Pretty lighthouse on the island.

Alec loved "dip" and crackers.

Some tasty seafood we had at Papa Joe's.

Alec loves ice cream!

Partying with the locals - ha!

Thursday - Our last night in St. George. Today, we got out and explored around town and Apalachicola . We had stayed to ourselves for most of the trip, so it was nice to get out a bit. We had lunch at Papa Joe's - it's a locals place and really good. This area of FL is rural and everyone is really nice, there aren't many "touristy" places around here so you kind of have to search and ask around for recommendations. Also, everything here is battered and deep fried!  After lunch we went shopping for souvenirs. We came back around 3:30 and everyone took naps again. We went out to a local party after at a restaurant - we met a few people and had some snacks. Afterward, we played at the playground again and then headed to the beach for some sunset pictures. We stayed out until after 8. I did laundry and packed up what I could before we headed to bed.

We just sat in the water and let the waves run into us. Alec loved it!

I would build the castle and Alec would knock it down! :)

Wednesday - Beach day! Today, we got around and spent most of the day at the beach. We got a little late start because it was actually a little cold this morning (cold for the beach!). Around 11, we rented some beach chairs and an umbrella. We went to the St. George Island State Park. The beaches at the state park are undeveloped, so there's no buildings in view. We got everything unloaded and had a nice picnic at the pavilion. Then it was beach time! We spent the next 3 hours building sand castles, collecting shells, wading in the water, and relaxing under our umbrella. We were so tired and Alec wouldn't nap so we headed back home. Alec and I took a quick dip in the swimming pool and then we all took naps. We stayed around the house the rest of day.

This is the beach house we rented for the week.

The sky was so blue after the storm passed.

Alec loved collecting shells, there were so many.

Alec warmed up to the ocean water, last year he wouldn't even put his feet in the water.

Watching helicopters on the IPad.

Tuesday - Today started around 8:00 when Alec and I woke up. We had breakfast and waited for Daddy to get out of bed. Around 10, I went for a jog, while Daddy and Alec watched Dora. Then, we got ready and went swimming at the pool. It was still pretty cold even though the weather was much better than yesterday. The sun was out and after our swim we decided to go to the beach. Alec was pretty reluctant and was upset when we got to the sand but loosened up once we started collecting sea shells. We stayed there for around an hour.

After the beach, we had lunch and all took some afternoon naps. After we woke up, we hung out on the porch and had a snack. Then we headed to island's playground area to play. After that, we went back to the beach to collect more shells and watch the sun begin to set. Alec really liked the beach this time and was actually running toward the water. We saw a bunch of jelly fish and even one as big as a large pizza. I guess the tropical storm had washed them ashore.  We left the beach and made short stop at the market for some more drinks. We headed home, had dinner and removed Alec's first splinter - so sad! We ended the evening watching TV.

Monday - I woke up around 8 and saw the sun shining, so I got dressed and walked down to the beach for a little walk. It was really windy but it was a nice way to wake up. Alec and Eric slept until around 9. We all had breakfast and then got around and went swimming at the house pool. Man, the water was cold. It took some getting used to - we played around an hour. I even jumped in and Alec started jumping in as well. We had a lot of fun!

We got ready and headed out for lunch. We ended up eating at Red Top Cafe in Apalachicola. It was pretty good. We went to Piggly Wiggly and got some groceries for the week. We came home and had some relax/nap time. It rained a little and was super windy. I actually felt the house move. Alec got up around 6 and we headed out for a walk to the beach. That was short-lived since it was so windy, so we headed back to the house.  Alec went to bed around 9:30 and Eric and I ended the evening with some T.V.
