June 26, 2011

Alec standing around with his hands behind his back - he learned this at school.

I thought this was a funny one - they are both sticking their bellies out the same way!

Sunday - Weekend of Fun part III! Today was a little more low key. Dawson loved the donuts from yesterday, so he and Eric went to Krispy Kreme this morning for more donuts and to watch the donuts being made. Dawson even donned the hat! ;)

We watched a little t.v. and headed outside before lunch. It was so hot so we pulled out the baby swimming pool. The boys had a great time splashing and spraying each other. Funny how a baby pool can be so much fun to even a 6 year old.  Afterward, we ate lunch and enjoyed a visit with some friends from out of town. We all had a great time - Alec loves Dawson and can't stop talking about him.

I should add, Eric took all of these pictures and they are ALL great! :)

Saturday - Weekend of fun, part II. Today, we had a busy, fun-filled day. We started the day off right with Krispy Kreme donuts,  then watched Transformers, took a trip to the comic book store, made some artwork, and played outside. The boys were wore completely out (and we were too!). We all took a long afternoon nap and afterward we went to an Arkansas Traveler's game. The night ended with some post-game fireworks. It was a good day. :)

Friday - Alec's cousin Dawson came down to visit today for the weekend. We started the weekend off right with pizza and arcade games at Playtime Pizza. The boys had a blast and thanks to our friends who joined us the boys took home some fun toys with all the ticket winnings.

Thursday -  I didn't get any pics today, so I snapped one of Alec's weekly sheets from school. This goes over what he's doing that week. This is a new thing since he's moved to the toddler room. This week was letters A-E and the week ended with razorback shirt and watermelon day on Friday.

Wednesday - Splash day at school. That morning we got Alec dressed in swimming trunks for splash day. The funny thing is (well in retrospect) he hated getting dressed and lathered in sunscreen that morning. Even though he loves to swim it's kind of a battle to get him ready to go.

At about 11 am, I got a call from school saying Alec had ran into a chair on the way to lunch and had a pretty nasty bump on his head. Since he was acting fine, I wasn't too worried. After Alec woke up from his nap at 2, the bump was worse and bruised. They called again and I went over to check it out. He was acting fine so I left and went back to work. When I picked him up that afternoon, the bump was lot better but he's got a pretty bad bruise and it's started turning one of his eyes black. Poor little guy.

Tuesday - The boy loves cars! Well, really anything with wheels. But tonight, I brought home 2 little cars and gave them to Alec. He kept saying "thank you, mommy" over and over again while he played. He even brought them to the table at dinner. We had a little dinnertime fun.

Monday - Today for the first time in a long time, I felt somewhat normal again - yay! Let's hope we can all stay healthy the rest of the summer or longer.

In this pic, Alec is trying to put off going to bed. He ran in the playroom and started looking at books. I know the feeling, I'm loving these long summer days and I've been staying up way too late.

Sunday - We spent the day with our Dads/Grandpas in Lamar and Hagarville. I didn't take too many pics but did get one of the boys eating ice cream. For some reason, Chandler only wanted a banana and wasn't in the shot. We had a good weekend. Happy Father's Day!

Saturday - We have a busy weekend ahead traveling around, so Eric opened his Father's Day gifts early. He got a lot of stuff for his arcade project.

Earlier in the week, Alec and I worked on a special photo project as a gift for him. I can't take the credit for coming up with this idea but I think it turned out pretty great with my own little spin. I took a ton of shots trying to get 3 that worked. For some reason, Alec did not like the "D," he loved holding the "A" though.

Friday - More bedtime fun - Hooray for the weekend! Finally, this week has been a rough one!

Thursday - Bedtime snuggles with Daddy. So sweet!

Wednesday - Alec and I playing in the backyard after working on a project for Father's Day. More on that later!

Tuesday - Alec wanted buttered bread while I made dinner. He mostly ate butter with a few bites of bread! :)

Monday - Busy Monday! In the last pic, Alec's giving his best "You're fired!" pose - not really but kinda reminded me of The Donald's famous phrase. Here's to an illness free week.

June 12, 2011

Sunday - Our day mostly consisted of getting ready for the week and taking cold/allergy meds. We've all been sick for most of the week and the weekend. I am so ready to feel well again. Let's hope this week is a better one.

Saturday - We made a trip to Fort Douglas, AR for a family reunion that my Dad organized this weekend. We had a good time even though I was feeling pretty bad. Alec had a great time and really enjoyed spending time with his Grandpa. I got a few pics of Alec and my Dad at my Dad's first school. He's really proud of his history here, so I'm glad we (and now Alec) got to spend some time there.

Friday - Happy 27th Birthday to my younger sister, Allison. She came over for the weekend and we all ate some yummy cupcakes. I can't believe my baby sister is 27?! How is that possible?

June 9, 2011

Thursday - This was me as I was headed to bed for the night and my only pic of the day. It was a pretty early night, it's been a busy week and I'm starting to feel a little sick - not fun. We had another swimming lesson tonight and Alec was a basket case during the first half of the lesson. He just cried and screamed for about 15 minutes. Finally, when we started going under water he calmed down. Once we started jumping off the side into the water he couldn't get enough. Hopefully, we've turned a corner. We'll see next week!

Wednesday - This was about the only decent picture I got of the evening. Alec and I played outside a little while after Daddy left for arcade night.

Tuesday - First day of swimming lessons. Overall, Alec hated the pool. The entire time, he just said "NO" and clung to me. I tried to power through and help him to participate. As we were leaving, he just kept saying "bye, bye water." I think it was the only time he was happy.  I guess we'll just have to keep on trying! :)

Monday - Alec trying on his new swimsuit. It didn't go well. Swimming lessons tomorrow!

Sunday - Just enjoying some family time in the backyard. In the last picture, Alec is saying hello to our neighbor, it was really sweet.

Saturday - Alec is 20 months old today! We are on the down hill slide to TWO. We took Alec to get his first haircut. He did really good but mostly looked scared/dazed the entire time.  He got a great little cut and he looks so good.

Here's what Alec's been up to this month:

Words/Language - His language has really developed this month. He's saying more and more words. If I had to guess he's saying 50-75 words easily. Some of this new words are fishies (goldfish crackers and fish), trash, Ew (as in gross), alright, candy, ice cream, thank you (he actually says it at the right time), bless you, ouch, drink, milk, water, rain, and he's even started counting 1 and 2. Those are just the ones that I think are new and he's using a lot.

Clothing/Size - Alec outgrew his shoes this month and went up 1 size since March. He now wears a size 7.5 Wide shoe. He's wearing 2T clothing in both pants and shirts. He's working on getting his last 4 molars and at least 2 have come in.

He's getting more affectionate. He blows kisses and makes a kissy noise when he wants a kiss. He hugs and loves on everything and everyone.  He's becoming more shy and less outgoing. I think it's a normal thing, he's remembering more people and now knows what strangers are. He asks for people by name - Mammie, Poppy, Dawson, Allie, and on and on. If you ask where's Dawson and he's not around. He'll say "I dunno" or "gone." He's also become more clingy (especially to me). He still loves to read and his favorite books are Brown Bear and the Mama Llama books. He asks for them by name.

My little boy is growing up. He's moved into a toddler room at daycare, got his first haircut, and is starting swimming lessons. He's definitely keeping us on our toes and super busy, but he's so much fun. Eric and I are always saying he's just getting to be more and more fun everyday.
