January 30, 2011

Sunday was another great day. We had french toast, bacon, and eggs for breakfast. Alec really liked it all except for the bacon. We went for another walk before it started raining.

Later in the day, I started feeling icky again. I had decided that the next day I would break down and go to the doctor. Well that came sooner than I expected. I started getting a horrible ear ache and couldn't handle the pressure in my head. I drove myself to the ER and saw the doctor. I have an ear infection in addition to my cold/sinus issues. I got some meds and was finally able to sleep. Hopefully, I'm on the mend.

The weather was wonderful on Saturday - we had highs near 70 degrees! We took advantage and went on a long walk around the neighborhood. What a change from this time last year. This time last year, Alec was 4 months old and just started learning to roll over. This year he's walking and running around the neighborhood with us. He had a lot of fun and it wore him out. :)

Finally Friday! It was a rough week. With the whole daycare disaster and then I was sick for most of the week, I think we were all glad it was over.

I love the top picture of Alec and how it shows his expression. He loves his waffles and here is scarfing them down. We went to Razorback pizza for dinner and otherwise had a lazy night.

Alec and Grandpa had a great day together on Thursday. I came home early from work because I was sick and found them washing my dad's car. Alec was following Grandpa around watching his every move. I think they both had a great day.

These pics are of Alec and Eric having fun and snuggling before bed. So cute!

Wednesday was off to a much better start. I got a call from Alec's old daycare and his old spot was still open. When we heard that it was such a relief - all of our moods changed immediately.

I took off Wednesday to make arrangements for daycare but thankfully not much had to be done. My Dad came down to help for the rest of the week so I could work.

Tuesday

This was a really bad day and one of the hardest days I've been through. Alec was officially kicked out of Chenal Valley Montessori School for biting. We met with the school administrators and his teacher and things got a little lot heated. I didn't handle the things they said very well. We were also up in the air about where Alec was going to go during the day. The uncertainty was really scary for us. When you live in a fairly large city and don't know a lot of people or have family nearby consistent childcare is extremely important.

Alec and I went home after our meeting and played around the house. I didn't take any pictures except these of him with my scarf. He was dragging it around so I tied it around his neck and he thought he was big stuff.

Glad this day was over!

Monday Night. It was a bad day, so we all packed up and went out to dinner at Senor Tequila.  Mexican food is our comfort food and Alec loves Mexican food. He eats chips, a cheese quesadilla, and beans and rice.

Today I got another call that Alec had been biting again. Eric and I realized today that Alec was probably going to get kicked out of his new school. We also realized that either way, we were going to have to find another place because this school wasn't going to work. :(

After today's events, it just made me realize how hard it is to take a criticism about your child. Even though the "bad behavior" reports we received are perfectly normal for a 15 month old, it still was so hard hear. It almost makes you question your whole idea of parenting.

Lazy Sunday...

I can't take credit for the top photo, that's Eric's work. It was just too good that I couldn't help but post it. Alec was sick the night before and woke up during the night with a fever. He went back to sleep and slept in this morning. Here in these pics he's trying to take his temperature with our temporal thermometer.  It was so cute, he even pushed the button like he's supposed to, just didn't quite have it pointed in the right direction. This thermometer is one of my baby "must haves." It was $40, but it's so worth not having to hold a thermometer under a squirmy baby's arm or "other" areas.

I'm finally comfortable letting Alec sleep with a stuffed animal. This is his bear I got him last year for Christmas. He loves it and must have it with him when we are at home. He's quite attached to his "Teddy." The night before, he had worked the stitches loose and pulled out some of the bear's stuffing. Eric took it to Build-A-Bear and had him repaired, good as new!
