Lamar Class of 1996

Saturday - Busy day! We spent the night in Lamar and had some fun time at Mammie and Poppy's in the morning. We attended Eric's 15 year class reunion that afternoon at Lamar. We had lunch and played on the playground. We had a great time and it was good to see and visit with everyone.

On the way home we listened to the Razorback game, we caught the second half at home on T.V.  The Hogs lost and the game was pretty sad. Let's hope next week's game has a better outcome.

Friday - Tonight after work, we headed to Lamar to watch the homecoming football game against Lavaca. Alec loves school buses so we had to get our picture made by the bus. We had a good time and got to catch up with a lot of friends. It's been about 10 years since we've been to a football game. We didn't stay for the entire game we were all tired and Alec was ready to go. Lamar won the game after going into overtime 5 times.

Monday - Alec in his Mater PJs and he's holding McQueen and Mater. He is obsessed with anything related to the Cars movie. He's always saying "Mater with you" or "McQueen with you." Translation: I want to take Mater/McQueen with me.

We have a Disney cars book and he knows every character and even talks about scenes from the movie. He's always asking for us to "Read McQueen." He loves the PJs, they were expensive for PJs but he wears them everynight. I have to wash them and have them ready by bedtime. He hates to take the PJs off in the morning. I'm always on the lookout for a Mater t-shirt but I've not had any luck.

Sunday - My sister and mom helped me with the decorations for Alec's party. There was a lot of hot glue and cutting going on! We also baked a sad little cake that was going to be a decoration at Alec's birthday party but I'm too embarrassed to let the pics see the light of day. I'm going to need a cake decorating class before I try that again! Ha!

Saturday - Happy  Birthday Mom! Today was my mom's birthday, Alec and I headed to Hot Springs for a weekend visit. Alec had fun spending time with Grandma (mamaw, as he says it) while my sister and I did some shopping for Alec's upcoming birthday party. We had dinner and cupcakes at The Fisherman's Wharf. It was  fun day! :)

Thursday - Busy day for me, another night of meetings. I didn't get any pictures for the day. Alec and Eric took full advantage of PIP and watched Thomas and Wipeout at the same time. :)

Wednesday -  Today was a busy day! Eric started the day in the dentist office getting his new teeth. This puts an end to an almost 7 month process. His new teeth look great! We ended the day with a run and a nice cool down walk. Alec did so good with dinner that he got an ice cream cone for dessert! :)

Tuesday - I had 3 hours of JL meetings this evening, so Alec and Eric were on there own. They went to Alec's new favorite place and had chicken nuggets and play time. Alec actually went down a huge slide on his own. He also made a new friend. :)

Monday - Back to the grind! Today we headed back to work after vacation. It actually wasn't too bad, I think the time off really gave me a boost. We decided to start training for the LR 1/2 marathon in March. We have 6 months until the race. Tonight, we grabbed the jogging stroller and headed out. We are in the build-up time so our runs are really short - we ran 1.5 miles tonight. I've been running consistently for a while but adding that jogging stroller really makes it hard!

Alec ate really well at dinner tonight. He ate corn, mashed potatoes, cheese ravioli, and garlic bread. This was a nice change from having to wrangle him down to eat 2 bites of something! :)

Sunday - Today marked the 10 year anniversary of 9/11/2001. It doesn't seem like that day happened 10 years ago. Ten years ago today, Eric and I had just been married a little over a year. We had just got back about a month earlier from a road trip to Chicago, Toronto, and Niagara Falls. School had really just started and I was in our first 2 bedroom apartment in Russellville studying for a Managerial Accounting test. Eric was on his way to work in Conway at Acxiom. I was watching the Today show when they cut over to live coverage when they saw the first airplane hit. I actually saw the second plane hit live on T.V. It was a scary and crazy day. I just remember being glued to the T.V. watching every second of coverage. I remember the worst part for me was watching the victim's family members posting pictures of their missing family. It was just heartbreaking, I can't imagine not knowing where/if my loved one was alive. I truly will never forget that day and what changed our Country and lives forever.

Saturday - We packed it all in! We headed out from Birmingham around 8:00 a.m. We were ready to get home - we stopped in Olive Branch, MS for lunch again at McDonald's. Alec LOVES McDonald's chicken nuggets. He would go play and then come over to me and say "more chicken nugget!" I felt like I was feeding a baby bird. We got home a little before 3:00 p.m. I unpacked while Alec and Eric headed to a friend's house to watch the Hogs game. I went over a little before the game started.

That night, Alec was so tired, he started begging to go to bed. It was so sad! We were all really worn out. Glad to be home but we had a great time on vacation. :)

Friday - We headed back home today. We stopped overnight in Birmingham, AL to split the trip up. We stopped for lunch at Dothan, AL and Alec played on the playground at Chick-fila. That night, we went to Chuck E Cheese for the first time with Alec. The place was crazy, there were kids everywhere. Alec did like riding the Big Red Clifford and a few of the other toddler rides.  I wonder if the Chuck E Cheese in LR is this crazy?! We didn't stay long and headed back to our hotel for the night.
