Friday - Eric and I were up at 5:30 getting ready for his surgery. We had to be to the doctor's office by 6:30. After thinking it over, I decided Alec should go spend the weekend with Becky and David (Mammie and Poppy) at Lamar. Eric was going to be out of it for most of the weekend and we didn't really know the extent of his pain and recovery. So far it's been a good decision because I'm having to keep up with an antibiotic and pain medicine schedule and keep a steady supply of soft foods for him to eat. He's not in a lot of pain but he is sleeping a lot.
It was so sweet when we got home after Eric's surgery. Alec was concerned about his Daddy and kept trying to give him hugs and climb into his lap. Eric had a milkshake and I gave Alec a few bites, of course he loved it!
Alec is having a great time with his grandparents and I can't wait to go pick him up on Sunday!

Thursday - Eric's mom came down to visit and help with Alec since Eric is having oral surgery in the morning. She took Alec to the backyard and the two of them had fun roaming around picking up sticks, rocks, and pine cones. Alec was really proud of his pine cone and kept calling it a "cone." It was really sweet, he even tried to carry it upstairs when he went for his bath.
With someone to watch Alec, we decided to go watch a movie. We saw I am Number 4. It was pretty good and it was good to relax a little before the events of the next day. After the movie, Eric posed for a funny picture. :)

Wednesday - Not much going on today. In these pics, Alec is upset because we didn't go outside fast enough when we got home. He doesn't quite get that I have to change clothes before we go out for our walk. He just sits and cries by the door until I'm ready to go. I think it's a combo of being tired and not being in full control of the situation. Funny thing is as soon as I open the door he's smiling again. :)

Tuesday - Eric went to yoga so Alec and I hit the town after work. We ran over to Home Depot to pick up some paint and light bulbs. Afterward, we had dinner at The Purple Cow. Alec ate an entire grilled cheese sandwich. He was really good at the restaurant. We laughed and made silly faces at each other, I'm sure everyone thought I was crazy. Oh well, it's fun to be a kid again! :)

Monday - Just relaxing after a busy Monday. We had a mini dance party before bath and bed. Alec really likes to dance so we just turned up the music and all jumped and danced around. Fun!

Sunday - We stayed mostly around the house getting ready for the week. Alec colored and played with Daddy in the morning and we went outside quite a bit that afternoon. Alec took his first walk around the neighborhood without a stroller. It took us over an hour, we all had a lot of fun. We worked on safely crossing the street and holding hands as we crossed the street. It took a few tries but he eventually got the hang of it. At dinner, Alec was so hungry after his big walk that he ate half a box of mac and cheese. He was practically licking the bowl! Great weekend!

Saturday - Alec and I had a mommy and me morning. We shared a pancake breakfast at Mimi's Cafe and then we went to story time at Barnes and Noble. The book was The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle. It's one of our favorites. We had a good time and it was good to spend the morning with the little guy with no distractions. I'm hoping to keep this up and go out at least once a month.

Friday! Tonight we went out to dinner and then headed down to the River Market to walk around and let Alec play. He loved it and smiled the whole time he was running around.
After that, we headed to the bakery to pick up some dessert. We got some tasty cookies. Eric and Alec ate some while lounging on the couch and watching the NCAA tournament.
This week has been a great one! Alec said some new words this week. He started saying wawa (water) and he even said bike this evening. He's really starting to increase his vocabulary. I can't wait until he says "I love you Mommy."
We're really trying to get out and enjoy the weather before it turns 100+ degrees this summer. Yay, for the weekend, I have some special things planned so it should be a good one! :)
